Under the GATI project, the government of Gujarat aims to develop eight iToTs (Institutes of Training of Trainers) and four CoEs (Centres of Excellence) for empowering ITI trainers to upskill, stay at par with international standards and deepen industry engagement.
GATI is determined to transform Gujarat into a powerhouse of high-tech, industry-ready talent, driving the state's vocational training ecosystem towards new horizons of excellence.

Purpose Behind GATI
The Gujarat Apex Training Institute (GATI) is a cornerstone of the Gujarat Government’s vision to elevate the state’s skilling ecosystem from conventional vocational education to industry-relevant, high-tech skilling.
In alignment with the “Skill India” and “Make in India” initiatives, Gujarat has proactively enhanced the quality and accelerated the pace of its TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) efforts. Although regarded to be one of the most industrialised states, the ‘Sustainable Vision 2030’ report by Gujarat Government clearly states the need to:
- Further build a strong cadre of trainers at all levels
- Ensure the availability of adequate numbers of qualified & trained trainers with at least 1 - 2 years of industry exposure
To fulfil the needs highlighted above, an approach which is more focused on the following is required:
- Quality of training
- Industry engagement
- Capacity-utilisation
- Institutional governance
In line with this vision, the Gujarat Government has partnered with GIZ (German Society for International Cooperation), world-renowned for skilling, to establish the Gujarat Apex Training Institute (GATI).
Our Goal
- World class advanced technology training institutes in the state of Gujarat, based on international standards, systems and technical expertise
- High-tech-oriented technical training in combination with technical services, blended learning and consultancy will be offered
- Market-driven long and short-term courses in the domain of modern technology as complementary measures
- GATI will train the teachers from vocational training institutes towards development and upgradation for enhanced outreach and impact.
